Should you buy the Sn30 Pro Plus?

8-bit do have been releasing great controllers for the last few years, and have received great praise from the popular youtube channels Wulff Den, and Spawn Wave. Their first controller was the sn30 pro and was akin to the original snes controller. The plus version was then created and added two grips for extra comfort, making it look more like a proper controller. I recently picked one up for £40 pound on amazon and if you want to buy one for yourself one, I will include a link at the bottom of the article.

First of all, the controller feels great to hold. While my hands are probably a little too small, this wont be the case for many people (my hands are very small). If you are used a standard pro controller however the different placement of the left thumbstick may feel weird, but not for very long. In 2D games, this controller is practically perfect. The d-pad feels great, its in the perfect spot (in line with your A,B,X,Y) and in general works really well. When playing tetris, I found myself making less mistakes when it comes to moving pieces, then when I play with the sub-par d-pad on the pro controller.

In 3D games, its almost just as good. So far ive played Splatoon 2 to test out the motion controls, and they feel pretty good but not the same as when you use an official nintendo controller. It still feels really good though. I then played Rocket league as its my most played game and so I thought I would notice the difference the most. There are two things Ive noticed in the first few days of playing that I will most likely get used to. First of all, the triggers are very sensitive. If you push down even the slightest amount, it will activate a full press. So when im accelerating and then quickly need to deccelerate, I sometimes find myself not fully letting go of the ZR button. I will definitely train myself to fully let go of the button, it just feels weird while your getting used to it. Then something else is that sometimes it feels unresponsive when turinng with the left thumbstick. This might be becuase I was a lot further away from my switch when I was playing than normal, so I might of been outside the range of perfect connectivity.

Overall I would highly reccomend buying this controller, as it feels great, and is a reasonably cheap option. However I think the pro controller is the overall better choice. This is a great pick for a second choice, and you can find it here: Amazon Link
